Abstract
Both contribute to significant cardiovascular morbidity and mortality in pregnant patients. The s-FLT1, a recently identified family of tyrosine kinase enzyme, appears to be an anti-angiogenic agent with cardiotoxic power, which appears high in both peripartum cardiomyopathy and pre-eclampsia. Considering the strong association between the two processes, it is recommended that women with pre-eclampsia are not excluded from future studies of peripartum cardiomyopathy.
