Abstract

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the resistance in mites and insects affecting orchard crops. Researchers conducted studies to investigate insecticide-resistant mites and insects affecting orchard crops. The researchers emphasized on updating the information on the occurrence of pesticide resistance in insects and mites attacking fruit crops. The series of surveys undertaken by FAO as a part of the activities of the FAO Working Party of Experts on Pest Resistance to Pesticides were used as the main information source. Resistance was defined as a decreased response of a population of animal or plant species to a pesticide or control measure as a result of their application. One of the first tasks of the FAO Working Party involved the development of standardized methods for the detection and measurement of resistance in agricultural pests. This also led to the development of the recommended methods for the detection and measurement of resistance to pesticides.
