Abstract

Copper-nickel (Cu-Ni) alloy matrix composites have been extensively used in many industries due to their high mechanical strength, good wear and corrosion resistance, and exceptional electrocatalytic properties. This review gives a comprehensive overview of the recent development in the synthesis of Cu-Ni alloy matrix composites by electrodeposition and powder metallurgy methods. The incorporation of particles into the Cu-Ni alloy matrix produced improved properties in the fields of mechanical, chemical, marine and electronics engineering. In the marine environment, an increase in demand for high corrosion and wear resistance properties for boat hulls, marine hardware, condensers and heat exchangers were observed. Cu-Ni alloy matrix composites prepared using the electrodeposition method suggest a most simple and economical way to improve the overall properties.
