Abstract

Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilany was a laying figure in the foundation of the Tariqah Qadiriyah - the first systematic order to be formed in a systematic and most widespread area of distribution- writing phenomenal works such as; al-Ghunyah Lithalibi Thoriqi al-Haq ‘Azza wa Jalla , Futuh al-Ghoib , al-Fathu ar-Robbany wa al-Faidh ar-Rohmany and others. His book al-Ghunyah Lithalibi Thoriqi al-Haq ‘Azza wa Jalla consists of five major discussions namely; fiqh, aqeedah, mawa'idz Al-Qur'an , alfadz an-nabawiyah , fadhailil a’mal and Sufism. This paper will explain the thoughts of Shaykh Abdul Qadir al-Jilany in the field of Sufism in the fifth chapter of this book. He discussed about the definition of Sufism, Sufi, Mutashawwif , murid , murod , shaykh , adab murid of his shaykh and others. Finally, this paper will review the establishment of Tariqah Qadiriyah and its theoretical aspects.
