Abstract

A new method for the quantitative analysis of difference Mössbauer spectra is presented. The method allows to determine precisely small changes in Mössbauer parameters, such as caused by internal stresses or small variations in temperature. The method for the quantitative analysis of difference spectra (q.a.d.s.) consists of the determination of the area of the difference spectra and correlating this area with changes in isomer shift, δ, and line width, ΔΓ. Formulae were found that correlate analytically the area with δ and ΔΓ. Changes in line width, ΔΓ, and in isomer shift, δ, as small as ∼10 −3 mm/s were determined for a number of difference spectra.
