Abstract
Chromosomes of related species are being substituted within the seven homoeologous groups of wheat. In this way a series of 21 monosomic alien substitution (MAS) lines and the related disomic alien substitution lines can be developed. Three substitutions within each of homoeologous groups 3, 5, 6 and 7 have been isolated by the authors. Substitution of alien chromosomes in the remaining groups, viz 1, 2 and 4, is discussed.
