Abstract

SUMMARYPairs of plant species were grown in soil in transparent plastic containers, one grass with one dicotyledonous species. All the species are normally VA mycorrhizal. Hyphal links were observed between eight of the species‐pairs. However, in only three of these pairs was internal VA mycorrhizal infection clearly seen in both species. These involved a grass plus a legume, and grasses with the woody climber Hedera helix.
