Abstract
Este artigo se propõe a oferecer uma base teórica para uma leitura consciente da épica grega arcaica. Inicia-se com uma discussão sobre a definição do gênero entre antigos e contemporâneos. Depois, tenta-se fundamentar uma base para a interpretação da composição da poesia e da narrativa, incluindo também a perspectiva da crítica e teoria da própria Antiguidade.
