Abstract

Abstract This test was conducted at the Nebraska Agric Exp Stn Mead Field Laboratory, Mead, NE in a second year stand of ‘Vernal’ alfalfa. Plots were 2.7 m x 4.6 m, arranged in a randomized complete block design replicated 3 times. A single application of 5 insecticides, at various rates, was applied on May 18. Insecticides were applied with a CO2activated pressure sprayer calibrated to deliver 140.3 1/ha at 1.41 kg/cm and equipped with a 1.7-m boom with NF #12 nozzles. Each plot was sampled twice, 9 and 14 days post treatment, by taking 5 sweeps per plot with a 38.1-cm diameter insect net.
