Abstract

Abstract This test was conducted at the Nebraska Agric. Exp. Stn. Mead Field Lab, Mead, Neb., in a 3rd-year stand of ‘Vernal’ alfalfa. Plots were 9 by 15 ft, arranged in a randomized complete block design replicated four times. A single application of six insecticides, at various rates, was made on 20 May. Insecticides were applied with a CO2 activated pressure sprayer calibrated to deliver 12.5 gal/acre at 20 lbs/in2 and equipped with a 5.5-ft boom. Each plot was sampled three times, 7, 14, and 21 days posttreatment, by taking five sweeps per plot with a 15-in. diam. insect net.
