Abstract
Dengue is an arthropod - borne virus which belongs to Flaviviridae family cause a range of different illness from mild symptoms to severe deadly Dengue Hemorrhagic fever/Dengue shock syndrome. Dengue is a self-limiting disease. The sharp raise in population, inadequate steps to eradicate mosquito breeds and Climatic changes – Delayed monsoon and heavy rainfall are the most important factors that leads to the drastic increase of Dengue cases in India. Approximately 94198 cases and 91 deaths were reported in India. According to World Health Organization Dengue is considered as a major global public health challenge for tropical and subtropical nations. This article summarizes the State wise dengue burden, Prevalence and Incidence. This article also includes some Global strategies for dengue prevention and control.
