Abstract

Single crystals of the system Pr/Y-Ba-Cu-O were prepared with a self-flux method in various compositions of Pr x Y 1- x Ba 2Cu 3O 7-δ (with 0< x<1). The chemical composition was determined by energy dispersive X-ray analysis in an electron microscope. The temperature dependence of the anisotropic electrical resistivity was determined from resistance measurements with the method of Montgomery. The activated transport behaviour of the substituted crystals is discussed. The room temperature reflectivity of the crystals in different crystallographic directions was measured in an IR-microscope. The energy dependence of the optical constants was calculated from the reflectivity curves with the Kramers-Kronig method.
