Abstract

Pr substituted single crystals of the 1-2-3-system are prepared with a self-flux method. The chemical composition is analysed with energy dispersive x-ray analysis (EDX) in an electron microscope. The temperature dependence of the anisotropic resistivity is determined, and the reflectivity of surfaces in the different crystallographic directions is measured in an infrared-microscope. With the Kramers-Kronig relations, the energy dependent optical constants are calculated from the reflectivity curves, and the optical conductivity is compared with the measured electrical conductivity.
