Abstract
In this paper, a simple way was described for the synthesis of graphitic mesoporous carbons (GMCs) with a narrow pore size distribution. The material with a pore size of about 4nm was obtained by one-step carbonization of the composite of thermosetting phenol resin (TPR) and ferrocene, which had a Brunauer–Emmett–Teller (BET) surface area of 248m2/g and a d (002) spacing of 0.3386nm. When ferrocene was changed to ferric nitrate, the pore size was also centered at 4nm, but the BET surface area was increased to 607m2/g, and the d (002) spacing was increased to 0.3427nm. The effort of this work will pave the way for the preparation of GMCs in large scale.
