Abstract
Based on archival sources, the materials used in the renovation of the painting of churches of The Holy Trinity - St Sergius Lavra are investigated.The article considers such laconic documents as working estimates for the purchases. Analyzing the pigments, adhesives, special equipment listed in them, the author makes conclusions about the composition of paints, method of their application and its peculiar properties. The article offers the unique analysis of archival documents from the point of view of practical restoration. The information offered to the reader will complement the panorama of pictorial works of the late 18th-century.
