Abstract

The article is devoted to the conceptual analysis of the multifaceted evolution of the landscape genre in Russian art in the second half of the 19th – early 20th century. The author poses and investigates in detail the key question of interrelationship of landscape poetics with the artists’ world view and aesthetic guidelines of the time influencing the perception of nature and its reflections in art. The academic and practical foundation of the article consists of the tasks, results and development prospects of the topic of the international conference with the same title “Landscape in Russian Art in the Second Half of the 19th – the Beginning of the 20th Century. Evolution of a Genre” (May 16–17, 2022, Russian Academy of Arts, Moscow), curated by the author.
