Abstract

In the history of Russian ballet criticism, the late 19th to early 20th centuries mark one of the most significant periods. During this time, ballet criticism evolved from being amateur and balletomane-driven to becoming increasingly professional, gradually establishing a stable position. It was during this period that a group of authors emerged, whose articles are still referenced and studied by contemporary researchers of ballet theater. They laid down the fundamental ideas that continue to influence ballet criticism today.
