Abstract
Nos anos 1987-1990, realizaram-se na UFSCar dois projetos de pesquisa, interligados, sobre a escola pública e a democratização do ensino no município de São Carlos, com apoio do Inep/MEC e do CNPq. Foi um trabalho de equipe com a participação dos professores Valdemar Sguissardi, Bruno Pucci e Newton Ramos-de-Oliveira e quatro alunos do curso de Pedagogia.
