Abstract

Cross-sections for 14·7 ± 0·3 MeV neutron-induced nuclear reactions on 99Tc were determined by the activation technique using Ge(Li) detector γ-ray spectroscopy and fast chemical separation. The results are: σ 99 Tc(n,γ) 100 Tc = 9 ± 2 mb; σ 99 Tc(n, n′γ) 99m Tc = 107 + 13 mb ; σ 99 Tc(n,p) 99 Mo = 15·1 ± 2·28 mb; σ 99 Tc(n, nα) 96 Nb = 7·1 ± 1·0 mb ; σ 99 Tc(n, n′α) 95 Nb = 1·28 ± 0·2 mb; σ 99 Tc(n, 2p) 98 Nb ⩽ 14 μ b and σ 99 Tc(n, 3 He) 97 Nb ⩽ 7 μ b . The cross-section for the reaction 99Tc( n, 2 n) 98Tc is estimated from theoretical considerations to be 1227 ± 226 mb. The data are discussed with respect to the cross-section systematics at this energy.
