Abstract
Colourless single crystals of K 3Li 3[TeO 6] are formed by reaction of K 2O, Li 2O and TeO 3 (K 2O:Li 2O:TeO 3 = 1.5:1.5:1, 700 °C, 30 days). Space group, Pnma; Z = 4; a = 1169.5 pm, b = 598.7 pm, c = 968.9 pm; R = 7.5%, R w = 6.0%, 1393 symmetry independent I o ( hkl) Ag K \\ ̄ ga. Characteristic for this structure are “isolated” octahedral groups of [TeO 6] and quadratic coordination of Li(2). Li(1) has a tetrahedral coordination. The crystal structure has been determined. The Madelung Part of Lattice Energy (MAPLE) is calculated and discussed.
