Abstract

Colourless single crystals of K 4Na 2[TeO 6] are formed by reaction of K 2O, Na 2O and TeO 3 ( K 2 O: Na 2 O: TeO 3 = 2:1:1, 700°C 28 Tage). Space group, P2 1 a ; Z = 2; a = 725.5 pm b = 983.3 pm c = 666.7 pm; β = 122.74 °; R = 9.4%, R w = 7.1%, for 1374 symmetry independent I o ( hkl), Ag K \\ ̄ ga. Characteristic for this structure are “isolated” octahedral groups of [TeO 6]. The crystal structure has been determined. The Madelung Part of Lattice Energy (MAPLE) is calculated and discussed.
