Abstract

Colourless single crystals of Cs 2K 2[TeO 5] are formed by reaction of Cs 2O, K 2O and TeO 3 ( Cs 2 O: K 2 O: TeO 3 = 1:1:1, 600 °C, 28 d). Space group P4 2/ mnm, Z = 4, a = 916.2 pm, c = 959.2 pm, 738 symmetry independent I 0(hkl) , R = 9.6%, R w = 8.3%, Ag K \\ ̄ ga. Characteristical for this structure are ‘isolated’ trigonal-bipyramidal groups of [TeO 5]. The crystal structure has been determined. The Madelung Part of Lattice Energy, MAPLE, is calculated and discussed.
