Abstract

Multiferroic magnetoelectric (ME) composites have attracted ever-increasing attention due to their great potential for various ME coupled devices. Many studies have been done on the fundamental understanding and design of multiferroic devices in the last decades. In this article, we present a review of the recent and ongoing research efforts on fundamental theories, fabrication process of both bulk and film composites, characterization and modeling techniques, as well as various ME devices with emphasis on thin film including sensors, inductors, filters, and antennas. Finally, a brief introduction on some remaining challenges and opportunities of ME composites is described.
