Abstract

Intention of this article is to analyse the discourse of calendar holidays that were mentioned in Lithuanian press during Soviet occupation in 1940–1941. Relevance and change of discourse in early Soviet period press is analysed in this work. Author is talking about the ways new worldview was shaped, how it coincided pre-soviet (1917–1940) period, and how discourse of calendar holidays during 1940–1941 shifted. Discourse of traditional (Christmas, New Year, Easter) and recent (Woman’s Day, May the 1st., October Revolution Day) holidays is discussed.KEY WORDS: calendar holidays, Lithuanian periodicals, tradition, interwar period, Soviet period, holidays dicurse.
