Abstract

The Professional Master Course as a Stricto Sensu modality is in process of consolidation. In this sense, topics such as the evaluation of programs, considering the specificities of this modality, and everything concerning the End of Course Paper are high on the agenda. The aim of this article is to discuss possible forms of final papers beyond dissertation, considering mainly Capes’ Norm 17, from December 28th, 2009. The empirical base takes into consideration the first proposals of the Professional Master in History End of Course Paper from the Universidade de Caxias do Sul (UCS). The Program started its activities in August 2013, and now it is going through its first qualification process. Among the presented proposals in this stage are production of didactic material; use of comic strips in class, games and their relationship with historical documents; use of social-anthropological research in history teaching; analysis of didactic books; methodological proposals of using sources in the teaching of history, among others. Based on the experiences of Master Course students from the Post-Undergraduate Program in History at UCS, the aim of this analysis is to discuss the possibilities of academic knowledge having a wider social function.
