Abstract

A two-step finite element method (FEM) calculation was presented to reveal the effects of reinforcement particles on the tensile properties and heat treatment behaviors of silicon carbide (SiC) and graphite (Gr) particulates reinforced aluminum composites (Al/SiC+Gr). The effect of interfacial reaction of Al–Gr interface after heat treatment on the mechanical properties of composites was analyzed. The comparison between calculated stress—strain results and experimental data showed good agreement.
