Abstract
Methods of mathematical modelling, as well as other operation research methods are nowadays widely used for solving transportation control problems. Many assembled models are oriented towards the direct control of transportation process and in Czechoslovakia this technique was used namely for solving specific problems of railway transport. In the last time special attention was devoted to the problems of passenger traffic with the aim to secure the maximam quality of the offered services and traffic demands, Many models were assembled in direct connection with gradually realized automated seat reservation system of Czechoslovak State Railways which is nowadays successively implemented in the whole railway net and which in its final stage muet enable higher quality of railway passenger traffic
