Abstract

This REPORT deals with the results obtained in the treatment of certain phases of lupus erythematosus by the administration of combinations of various forms of vitamin E with either panthenol® (the alcohol of pantothenic acid), racemic ( dl- ) calcium pantothenate or dextrorotatory ( d- ) calcium pantothenate. Patients who had chronic discoid, disseminate discoid, or subacute disseminate lupus erythematosus were studied. Patients with acute disseminate lupus erythematosus were excluded. Racemic calcium pantothenate has been used alone, in doses of 200 to 400 mg. daily for short periods, with benefit in the treatment of chronic discoid, disseminate discoid, and subacute disseminate lupus erythematosus. 1 Panthenol® alone, in doses varying from 0.5 to 6.0 gm. daily for periods varying from two weeks to three months has been used with improvement in all types of lupus erythematosus. 2 Vitamin E alone has been used with improvement in the treatment of lupus ery
