Abstract

The experiments have shown that the optimal total samarium content range of Sm(Co, Cu, Fe, Zr)Z 2–17 magnets is 27–27.5 wt%. Moreover it is difficult to obtain excellent magnetic properties by normal solid phase sintering. The use of the liquid phase sintering (LPS) technique is favourable to adjusting and controlling exactly the composition of the magnets and can fully exploit the advantage of the step aging treatment. As a result, the coercivity and energy product of magnets have obviously been increased. The magnets with the higher performance can be stably produced on a large scale. The highest (BH)m obtained is 30.5 MGOe.
