In this study, the stress is laid on the dramatic value of Kleist’s novellas. After a short reflection about the genre of the German novella, an analysis in three points is developed. First, the dramatic aspect of the narrative structure in these stories is examined. In a second moment, the analysis focuses on the dramatic nature of the narration itself ; at last, a deeper relation between Kleist’s stories and the drama is pointed out thanks to the essay Über das Marionettentheater.
