Abstract

The essential reason for this article is to argue the place and role of environmental education in the socio-humanist formation of the agricultural engineer. To do so, it takes as a starting point that in the current Cuban university, the dynamic conception of the educational process is approached from an inter-multi and trans-disciplinary approach, where environmental education is manifested in the formative process. In addition, the current context demands that we take into account not only the relations between men, but also the effects that their actions produce on the environment. The essential purpose of the agricultural engineer is: the efficient management in the agricultural production systems, with the use of methods, techniques and agricultural technologies, oriented towards sustainable development, and among the values that qualify it are the ecological ones. Therefore, it is necessary that their training be based on an environmental education that is increasingly humanistic.
