Abstract
Abstract : The fewest imperfect indicator for comparing economic growth in different regions seems to be the chain of Laspeyres indices. The application of this method to the cases of Champagne and Alsace during the XlXth and XXth centuries shows fundamentally different models of growth and confirms the major importance of the problem of the labour resources in France during the second half of the XlXth century.
