Abstract

In the article, the concept of quality of life is theoretically supported as a necessity in the teaching-learning process of General Geography, as well as the advantages of its use in the environmental education of students. Likewise, the article includes the results of the systematization of the theoretical foundations, which allow to take advantage of the potentialities of the contents of General Geography, through the contextualization of the environmental problems of the school and community environment and the integration geography-environment-quality of life. Arguments and references related to the quality of life are presented with a holistic vision from the environmental dimension of General Geography. It emphasizes the incorporation of the elements of sustainable development in the teaching-learning process of the subject of Geography, through its environmentally contextualized treatment, as a way to enhance the environmental dimension in the process mentioned above.
