Abstract
The cosmological argument is an a posteriori argument which intends to go from certain facts about the cosmos to the existence of God. The argument, which was subjected to certain criticisms in the history of philosophy, has been advanced in various forms depending on the central doctrine on which it is based. These various forms are: argument from the Prime Mover, the First Cause argument, the contingency argument, the principle of sufficient reason, and the Kalam cosmological argument. This study offers some background knowledge about the argument and then examines each form of the argument through their main starting points in their historical developments.
