Abstract
Abstract Background: This study evaluates dentists’ awareness of radiation risks for pregnant women, focusing on knowledge, attitudes, and practices (KAP). Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study among 250 dentists in Rajasthan used a validated questionnaire covering demographic data and KAP regarding radiation risks. Data analysis employed Statistical Package for Social Sciences, descriptive statistics, and chi-square tests. Results: Among participants, 93% viewed dental X-rays as harmful to pregnant women. Awareness of as low as reasonably achievable principles and radiation dose thresholds was higher among those attending continuing dental education (CDE) programs. Significant differences were observed between CDE attendees and nonattendees in knowledge scores. Conclusion: While knowledge of radiation risks among dentists was acceptable, gaps remain in practice and awareness of protective protocols. Regular CDE programs are essential to bridge these gaps.
