Abstract

As an artist, Jude Rouslin's first choice of medium has always been oils, which he began using as a child. During the early 1990s, his seizure disorder worsened, which ultimately impacted upon his ability to continue in his preferred medium, oils. Artistically frustrated, he eventually began the difficult transition from canvas works to digitized art forms. It proved to be a rather long and intense process because he had virtually no prior computer experience and the use of a computer also had the potential to further increase his seizures. He continually strives to visually depict his own seizure-related experiences, unlocking what is neurologically experienced on the inside to the outside. This, in essence, further helps him to gain a better understanding and define what it means to be an individual with an intractable multifocal seizure disorder. He continues to create with oils as well as has continued with digital computerized designs. While many of his works may project a neurological emphasis, they remain largely within digital art forms.
