Abstract
Jay Justin Clarke is known for hitting eight home runs for his team, the Corsicana Oil Citys, in a 51-3 win in a 1902 Texas league (Class D) game. Previous researchers into the game expressed frustration at the lack of information about the ballpark, aside from a short right field fence that contributed to the home run total. New research has found details about the ballpark to provide a more complete story of the game. In addition to the ballpark details, this paper recaps Jay’s career and related stories about the game including why the game was moved from Corsicana and why the losing pitcher threw a complete game.
