Abstract
Women play a significant but frequently underappreciated role in the country’s agricultural productivity. In India, women continue to have severe disadvantages when it comes to compensation, land rights, and representation in local farmer organizations, even though they make up the majority of the labour force. Poverty, marginalization, and gender inequity are common problems for women in farming areas. So the present paper has been planned with the objective to address the issues and challenges of women engaged in agriculture and allied activities .Various research papers pertaining to such issues have been reviewed to attain the set objective. Women have to play the dual role at farm and home. Lack of technical knowledge in agriculture, low access to land, finances, credit, socio-cultural barriers are major challenges faced by them. Wages for women working as agriculture labours are lower. It is necessary to address these issues and is essential to implement gender-specific interventions in order to boost agricultural productivity.
