Abstract
This chapter presents IR studies on the reduction of nitric oxide with ammonia over MFI-ferrisilicate. IR studies are carried out on H-ferrisilicate for the catalytic reduction of nitric oxide with ammonia in the presence of oxygen. Adsorbed NO 2 or nitrate species was found to be the reaction intermediate to form nitrogen through the reaction with adsorbed ammonia species. In this chapter, for the further understanding of the catalytic properties of Fe 3+ in ferrisilicate, ones applied ferrisilicate to the selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitric oxide with ammonia in the presence of oxygen. Recently, Fe ions in zeolites have been studied for this reaction using Fe-exchanged Y zeolites. The chapter presents study on the reaction intermediate in the SCR of NO with ammonia on MFI-ferrisilicate that found to be active and selective for this reaction.
