Abstract

Publisher Summary This chapter discusses a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) of nitric oxide (NO) by methane (CH 4 ) over AgNaZSM-5 catalysts in the excess of oxygen. The conversion rate of NO to nitrogen (N 2 ) have a linear dependence on the silver loading, which indicate that all silver species in the zeolite are active for the CH 4 -SCR reaction. The presence of excessive oxygen in the feed gas favors the CH 4 -SCR reaction. The temperature programmed desorption profiles in heleium (He) and 2%CH 4 /He after the co-adsorption of NO and O 2 reveal that surface nitrates are formed on silver catalyst and could be effectively reduced by methane.
