Abstract

The subject matter of communicative competencies of teachers is an issue, which is extremely important in the process of educational change that takes place in contemporary school. However, even defining the concept of communicative competences itself is not an easy task, due to the fact that literature of the subject gives many ambiguous interpretations. Frequently, it is identified with the level of knowledge and skills indispensable for effective communication with the interlocutor, with ability to adjust both verbal and non-verbal language to the recipient and encouraging him to cooperation. In this article, author gives the characteristic of the process of communication in the teacher-student relation, with special focus on types and styles of communication in education. He also indicates some of the competence features, improvement of which is expected to upgrade the quality of functioning of the school class.
