Abstract
The dialysis, electromigration and adsorption of ∼ 3×10−7 M iron on glass and polyethylene was studied in the presence of 2×10−6 M yttrium. It has been found that the trace yttrium does not substantially affect the electrophoretic and colloidal behaviour of iron. Some influence of yttrium on the adsorption of iron appears to be evident, mostly in the pH-region where yttrium occurs in a colloidal state. Ageing of the solution brings about a decrease in the interaction.
