Abstract

The article describes the process of forming of conditions for the development of Chinese entrepreneurship in the Russian Far East in the 1990s, presents trade statistics between the mentioned regions for 1995-2001. Various spheres of activity of Chinese entrepreneurs are considered, including trade, the provision of services, public catering, agriculture, construction, small wholesale trade. The phenomenon of “shuttle trade”, which played a significant role in supplying the Russian population during the collapse of the socialist economy, is also considered. The article also analyzed the problems faced by the Russian economy due to the entrepreneurial activity of Chinese tourists.
