Abstract

Analysis of cancer mortality in the Ile-de-France region (greater Paris) indicates male decreased mortality and female increased mortality compared with the French average. The detailed geographic distribution of these differences demonstrates in particular a correlation with the areas of social precarity in the former industrial districts (men) and smoking at a younger age (women).
