Abstract
Most chemical companies are in the middle of what can only be called a revolution in information technology (IT). Information systems are transforming the way business is done in the chemical industry, affecting everything from sending electronic mail to determining the cost of a product to ensuring its delivery at a customer location. The impact of these new information systems is felt differently at each job level. Nevertheless, every employee experiences the immense change that new IT systems bring, whether it means learning how to input sales information, forecasting a production schedule, or completely redefining job functions.
