Abstract

In Part I the crystal habit influence has been studied in bromide and iodobrimide emulsions.Recent advances in the knowledge of the crystallization process of silver chloride in emulsions disclose now the possibility of preparing crystals of a new crystallographic form: the {110} habit. This led to a study of the aggregation pattern of spectral sensitizing dyes influenced by the different crystal habits. The formation of J-aggregates seems to be promoted by a {1OO} habit, whereas {110} and {111} crystals induce M- or D-absorption maxima. This behaviour is completely unexpected and quite different from that observed on silver bromide crystals.
