Abstract

The implementation of CSR activities in the modern days was continuously developing and evolving and has spread out and was already adopted by business firms and industries to benefit the business owners, the communities, clients, employees, and those who are directly or indirectly affected by the company’s operation. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the implementation of CSR activities of business establishments in Cagayan Valley Region and investigate the problems or concerns encountered in implementing the CSR activity with the result of formulating a proposed framework and action plan for developing a sustainable CSR endeavor. This study utilized qualitative research approach using a semi-structured type of interview to managers or employees who were directly involved in the implementation and maintenance of CSR activities of their companies. An in-depth document scanning from the business establishments’ data and the DTI files was also employed. Transcribed interviews were processed thematically. Findings revealed that most of the business establishments in Cagayan Valley Region have similarities in their implementation of CSR activities. It can be noted further that the positive outcome among the aspects of implementation falls under the parameter of employee involvement for CSR activities. The planning approach, structured CSR action plans, sustainable philanthropic CSR projects, CSR budgeting, and disclosure revealed crucial problems that concluded a thorough review on the planning and implementation process among business establishments. The study therefore recommends the business establishments to adopt the proposed CSR framework and CSR action plan and monitoring template as a reference for planning and implementing sustainable CSR practices.
