Abstract

First experiments demonstrated that an illumination simulator based on a spectrograph with interchangeable templates is a versatile instrument to investigate the influence of light sources on colour reproduction. Incandescent, fluorescent and discharge light sources with different spectral irradiance distributions can be simulated as well as test colours (optical colours). Further possible investigations are the simulation of various combinations of light sources and filters and of the components of electronic imaging systems
