Abstract

Despite of the great demand for hospital services, the quality of the services to be provided, including efficiency and effectiveness of the health team, are of importance for strategic hospital management. From the perspective of the hospital pharmacy, more and more hospitals are requesting the performance of the pharmaceutical professional to avoid errors of medications and unnecessary prescriptions of medications, also aiming at reducing the cost of therapy and the time of hospitalization of patients. The present work aims to describe the importance of pharmacy management in the hospital environment, as well as health accreditation. The greatest challenges involve the management of Pharmaceutical Assistance in the health area, as it demands great costs and covers a certain level of complexity, from the care, technological, logistical, cultural, social, and political aspects. Within hospitals, the more organized the management and skills of employees involved in the organization of the pharmacy, the greater the effectiveness regarding cost optimization and the ability to offer its customers a quality of their services with low operating costs. Despite the increase in the accreditation process, many Brazilian hospital pharmacies have a low operational performance, happening in a punctual and unorganized way, allowing the coexistence of very different realities in relation to the provision of desirable pharmaceutical services, which ensure the safe and rational use of the technologies used in the provision of patient care, as well as the development of the hospital pharmacy. It is concluded that the hospital pharmacy assists the hospital environment in its organization over the other sectors and with an efficient logistics to meet the various existing demands. Porting is a challenge to insert these concepts in the execution of the management processor, organization, to achieve efficiency so that management, reach all the developments in the process in the hospital environment.
