Abstract

The basic tenets of the theory of geographical examination as suggested by K. P. Kosmachev are considered in comparison with the institutional approach in economic geography. These lines of enquiry are united by analysis of the influence of the local specific character on the body of standards and rules regulating the economic management conditions and methods in the spatial context. The role of the principles of evolutionary nature and acceleratedness inherent in current institutional analysis is highlighted in the shaping of K. P. Kosmachev’s scientific worldview.
